VIA is a Community Inclusive Intergenerational Dance Company that consists of wheelchair users, learning disabled dancers and non-disabled dancers. We are part of the Gloucester based charity called Art Shape. We love to perform and are delighted to be performing at Stroud Festival. This piece (The Circle of Life) was devised during lockdown over Zoom sessions. On the surface it is a fun and colourful piece, with deeper meanings hidden throughout. The words of the poem were written by Via during lockdown and are a strong reminder of how the pandemic affected our mental health. If you look closely, you will also see references to the hierarchy within the animal kingdom and the destruction of our planet through climate change. There’s a lot in here and it’s suitable for all ages.
